You Have the Power: Shatter the Silence on Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment

The recent Netflix series, ‘Maid’, had sparked a conversation on the reality of domestic violence and the cycle of abuse. In Malaysia, 6443 cases of Domestic Violence have been reported to the PDRM between Jan to Oct 2021, an increase from 2020. However, adding in the unreported cases the numbers are expected to be higher.
 

What is causing this epidemic of gender-based violence? Sadly, the dreading silence and absence of knowledge on Domestic Violence are few of the reasons why. It is time to open up, and speak up before it is too late, and this becomes more normalised than it already has been.
